A Post High School Education by Kaleigh - April 2020 Scholarship Essay

Deciding to go to college after graduating high school is a choice that many high school seniors make. Some do it because they feel it’s just the next logical step and they don’t know what else to do, some do it because their parents want them to go, and others go because they want to earn a degree and have a career. I feel that as a senior, no one knows for sure what their future holds. Everyone has an idea of what they want to do with their life, or major in, or where they want to be in 20 years. But, I feel that you can’t make a final plan for your whole life after just graduating high school. You are only eighteen years old and there is a whole other world out there that students need to discover before they can decide their future. I feel that college is a very important step in life for most students and four years that are well worth investing in one’s life. They will have a great opportunity to find a path and where they belong in the world. Many doors can open through meeting teachers, trying out a variety of classes that interest you and the college can help facilitate internship opportunities to help gain job experience in the real world.
As I said, I believe that college is a crucial step in deciding the path of one's life. While it is only four years for most students, you take classes, meet people you wouldn’t have met, get jobs, maybe travel to new places, and start internships that can help you on your path to a stable career. I feel that college is a very important step to deciding where you will go in your life. Also, while some careers such as electricians, cosmetologists, and computer programmers don’t need a bachelor’s degree to earn the job, if someone wants to go into a corporate job, become a doctor or dentist, or potentially start their own company, they will need a bachelor’s degree to obtain enough credits to even begin those career paths. A bachelor’s degree is some people’s key to their future careers. They have to put in the work in order to get the job results that they want. For others, going into a training program to learn the trade they are interested in is a viable option instead of attending a traditional college. The bottom line is I feel that some type of advanced education is integral for most students to advance in their career of choice. Going to college opens the door to so many more possibilities, rather than skipping this four year experience. I believe that attending college is important in not only finding a career path and future that is right for you, but finding out who you want to be and where you want to go in this crazy big world.
