Medicine by Kaiya - February 2025 Scholarship Essay

One topic that has sparked my intellectual curiosity and passion for learning is medicine and the functions of the human body. Even as a young child, I had this interest and was always playing doctor. As I’ve gotten older, my interest has grown significantly. The way in which our bodies function and do all that they do fascinates me. As a runner and powerlifter, I have seen incredible feats of human endurance, speed, and strength and am in awe of the way every part of the body functions together. As a Christian, I see the complex interworkings of the human body as further evidence of a creator. I feel the more I learn about how the human body works, the more I am in awe of God and the complexities that He has created.

This interest in medicine and the human body coupled with my desire to share the light of Jesus has led me to having the desire to become a doctor. I love hearing people in the medical field speak about medicine and have thoroughly enjoyed my job shadows in this field. I can not wait to learn more about medicine and become the best physician that I possibly can be.
