New Year New Scholarships? by Kaitlyn - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

Wow is it already 2016? I cannot believe it! My name is Kaitlyn Hague and this year is looking to be a big one for me. I will be having a lot of lasts, such as my last day of high school, my last state convention, and my last summer before college starts. While I am heavyhearted to see those things go, I am excited to be able to look forward to a lot of first, such as starting college.
Since I am starting college this year, I realize that I will have to become a better student and really get down to my studies. There will no longer be my parents or teachers to push me to do better, so I will have to push myself. I have started doing this by making a New Year’s resolution. I have vowed to try to get my college completely paid for. This means that I will research scholarships and spend hours upon hours of time filling them out in hopes of getting my college paid for. This scholarship is one of many that I am starting with.
I want to accomplish this goal for my parents. They are very hardworking and try their best to give my siblings and me an amazing life. They have succeeded, because I am in love with every second of my life that I have been granted, but even as hardworking as my parents are they will not be able to pay for my college. I also do not want to spend the better years of my life stressed out trying to pay off student loans. These reasons are why I have made this New Year’s resolution, and I hope to accomplish it.
