Where Will Education Go? by Kaitlyn - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
From an early age, I've always know that I've wanted to be a teacher of some sort. I've always sat in class and watched my teachers. They are magical, they are able to hold some sort of control over students, yet at the same time, are able to stay on good terms with the students and be like a buddy to the student. I immediately knew that I wanted to be like that when I grew up.
Fast forward to eighth grade, this was the year I got into animal care and plant care, for a while I believed that I wanted to be an agricultural teacher. How cool would it be to be able to be able to teach my passions to students who are willing to learn and cooperate with me?
I eventually found that as time went on, that I would find myself enjoying history and psychology and teaching others about it. While I truly do love plant care and animal care, I think that I love history and psychology a bit more. So, I applied to Shepherd University to major in Social Studies and Psychology.
I feel that to be able to teach students things that I love would be a blessing. I hear many teachers complain about teaching, but I think I would honestly love it. I have never been a social person, so I feel that putting me in a classroom to teach will help me kind of catch up on how much socialization I've missed out on. This is just a short thing of why I truly enjoy the path I'm going down, I could probably write more, but am afraid of going over my nine-hundred word limit. Thank you for your time.
