Perseverance by Kaitlyn - January 2018 Scholarship Essay
After high school, many people choose to attend college. People want to continue their educational career to get a degree in what he or she is interested in. It is the ultimate goal to get a degree in whatever major, so one can go into the career he or she loves. The word I choose was perseverance. Perseverance is the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
I want to attend college because I want to further my education. I understand college will be difficult, but I will persevere through it. I am always up for a challenge. I want to become an athletic trainer, and I will need to get a master’s degree. I know that those five years will be hard. I knew that I wanted to be an athletic trainer as soon as I suffered my second knee injury. I worked closely with the athletic trainer at my school, and was able to return to play in a few weeks. I also suffered other minor injuries during my basketball and softball seasons. Working with the athletic trainer solidified the thought that I would be an athletic trainer. I always knew that I wanted to work with athletes, but I did not know what branch I wanted to go into. Working with the athletic trainer made me realize that I wanted to be with the athletes step by step and help them get better when they get injured.
I chose the word perseverance because I am willing to go to college even though I know it will be hard. I want to be successful in life, and the only way I feel I can do that is going to college. I can persevere through my college career by working hard and utilizing time management. By working hard, I will be successful because I will be focusing on the task on hand. By utilizing time management, I will be able to get everything done on time and in a timely matter. By keeping the word perseverance in mind through my college career, I will be able to remember my goals and motivate myself to be the best I can be.
All in all, the word I chose was perseverance due to the fact that I want to further my educational career and I want to motivate myself to work hard. I believe everyone should at least think about the word perseverance because of the meaning, doing something no matter how difficult.
