The committee by Kaitlin - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

You are on the committee that awards the Nobel Prize. Discuss two qualities your recipient would need to possess.
There I was staring at a stack full of papers about people who are all qualified for the Nobel Peace Prize. I looked at my fellow committee members who looked just as perplexed by whom to choose.
So I asked myself “What two values do I hope to demonstrate every day and which of these people does those things on a larger scale.
I knew that the most important thing is a positive attitude and working to achieve goals. Through that knowledge, my choice became a lot easier. I simply looked for those who have a vision of the future they won't leave our kids and someone whose work had touched people in the most meaningful ways. The people honored with the Nobel Peace Prize should above all care about other human beings and the type of place we leave behind. Their work and their vision should be about bettering the world. In a time where our world is filled with hate, our winner needs to spread acceptance and love of differences and encourage diversity.
“I think I’ve made my choice,” I exclaim.
My fellow committee members look up shocked that I was able to make a decision. They eagerly wait to hear what made these six people stand out in my mind.
“How’d you choose?” One committee member asks me.
“Well it was simple, I looked for people that show a positive vision for our world and worked as hard as possible to affecting positive change wherever they go. A Nobel Peace Prize winner should be a role model, something to aspire to, and I know these people are the correct choices,” I declared.
