Teaching Psychology by Kailyn - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

If the rules were reversed, I would be a psychology teacher. Psychology is a school subject that is not provided to all high schools and is often under appreciated. Psychology helps students understand human behavior and mental processes, so having this knowledge can be beneficial when it comes to psychological disorders and brain health. Also, many career fields revolve around psychology. For example, a neuroscientist studies the brain. Studying psychology helps one understand the brain and how it functions. Along with the brain, psychology also covers other topics such as: how the eye works, sensation and perception, psychological disorders and treatment, memory, and stress.

I have a passion for psychology. I find the subject useful and highly intriguing. I am confident in my knowledge of psychology and believe that I would be able to successfully manage a class on the subject. I am also planning on psychology being my major when I go to college which would benefit me as a teacher. I believe that as a psychology teacher I could make learning exciting while also challenging my students. This would make students more involved with learning the material and expand the popularity of psychology. Psychology is an extraordinarily informative topic that many do not know about. I would be a psychology teacher so I could benefit the youth by providing an education that could help with daily life.
