Confidence in Leadership by Kailey - December 2021 Scholarship Essay
There are many traits that people look for in a leader. Of course, most leaders push for excellence, encourage strategic thinking, and push the development of others. But if you ask me, the most important trait that a leader could have is confidence. A confident leader is a person who can shape and guide individuals while making decisions to keep the world moving. They are visionaries, motivators, and encourage others. When someone is confident, they make it easier for people to trust them and those are the type of leaders that people typically want to work with. Confidence also leads to happiness. They feel positive about their ability to lead people and deal with daily challenges. In this essay, I will be talking about a few positive factors that occur when confidence is involved in leadership.
Leaders who show self-confidence, are able to make others around them feel significant. They will understand the importance of their team and will be considerate towards them. Under such leaders, the team develops and outshines. They are able to feel important for all the work they accomplish. Confident people tend to be more confident in others as well. When a leader lacks confidence, the consequences are likely to affect the entire team. Leaders without confidence withhold information, postpone important decisions, and have trouble building teams and inspiring them. Without confidence, there is no leadership because what you don't have, you cannot give to others.
In conclusion, if you would like to succeed as a leader, it is important you are full of confidence. You need to be able to believe in yourself and your team to make sure everything is done when necessary and it is done successfully. Confident people are who others look up to. Your showing of confidence is what makes others feel comfortable when working for you. They know you have their back and are there to support them through every obstacle. When people feel your confidence and trust you, they more willingly invest their time, energy, and loyalty to ensure that you and the team are successful. It is important that you do something on a daily basis to boost your leadership confidence. That way, the success continues.
