My New Years Resolution by Kailee - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

As a student with much potential, I do struggle some in school. Being a high school senior, I need to practice proper student etiquette. To do so, I have created my New Year’s resolution: better time management.
I struggle with time management. I attend advanced classes, I participate in FCCLA (Future Career and Community Leaders of America), Key club, National Honors Society, I play on the high school tennis team, and I work part time. On top of that, my father has cancer. With my busy schedule, I struggle to manage my time properly.
In order for my resolution to help me become a better student, I have to set myself some guidelines. First, I must NOT procrastinate. As soon as I receive an assignment, I must begin the assignment right then, and resume the assignment when I get home from work. Second, I must allow time for each classes assignments. In order to do this, I have discovered an app for iPhones called 30/30. This app allows the user to set up a list of tasks and the amount of time to accomplish each task, perfect for students with busy schedules! Third, I must keep a list of things to do. This will allow me to keep track of what needs to be done as well as the satisfaction of marking off each task as I finish.
These habits will be helpful while doing assignments in college. Once I have followed these guidelines and picked up the habit once again, I believe I will be able to work at my fullest potential in school. This will allow me to become a better student over the course of 2016.
