Life's Purpose by Kaden - November 2023 Scholarship Essay

Ever since I was little, I have always known that I wanted to go into the medical field. I never knew for sure what I wanted to do, but I always knew that I like to help. Whether it was putting bandaids on my little brother's skinned knee or simply asking “what's wrong” to a crying friend, I recognized that I have a passion for helping others. When I was young I dreamed of being a family physician just like my doctor. When I was in middle school, I wanted to be a surgeon because I had seen Grey's Anatomy and they all seemed so effortlessly confident with their skills I wanted to be like that too. I want to go to school because I have a passion for helping people and I want a chance to make that my career.
While my childhood plans are entertaining, I have studied different medical professions and I have found one that suits me best. Ii However, now that I am older, I have decided to go to school to study nursing. I did grow up to realize that you cannot just go to school for the experience, even though that is an added bonus. I decided to go into the medical field, specifically nursing because it has a certain amount of hands-on work with the patients that I enjoy. I currently work as a Certified Nursing Assistant and I absolutely love it. I like being the person to be able to provide my patients with things and be able to help them. I enjoy knowing that I am helping people and seeing them grow day by day. I know that by going into the nursing profession I can continue my passion for helping others and maybe even move up and become a nurse practitioner.
In order to reach my goals, I have worked hard. I am currently a senior at Campbellsport High School and I have taken as many classes as possible to prepare myself to transition into college in the fall. I have decided to continue my education at The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh where I will study nursing to get a bachelor's degree and eventually take their nurse practitioner course to get a master's in nursing. After I have completed all of this schooling, I should have a well-rounded education to make me qualified to pursue my passion.
