Always Believe In Yourself by Kacie - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
High school can be one of the most difficult years of your life but it could also be the best. Ultimately it is what you make of it. Just because there are other people that think they need to cut down other people because they aren't happy with themselves doesn't mean that you need to let yourself get sucked into their vortex.
As I started out my high school career I was petrified of what was ahead. Being a freshman in a new school is really scary when you don't know anyone and you feel alone. I struggled a lot my freshman year. Not necessarily grade wise but mostly socially. I couldn't make a new friend no matter how hard I tried. I stuck to myself pretty much. I had a few friendly acquaintances but no one to really trust enough to get close.
Sophomore year got a little better. I had made a few friends over the summer and that made it a little easier for me in school. I got all wrapped up in trying to socially be out there that I lost track of schoolwork and started falling behind. I started struggling to get myself back out of the hole I had dug myself. I wasn't going anywhere.
Junior year started off better. I stayed on top of my grades but one of my closest friends ended up going behind my back and almost sending me off to jail. You never know who you can trust! My year junior year was very hectic and very stressful. Towards the end of the year it got better. My friend and I talked it out and ended up agreeing to stay civil and see where it goes.
Now it is my senior year and it has gone by so fast. I'm just going to say don't blink because you will miss something. The only thing that is stressful about senior year is all the scholarships and college things you have to go through. Once you get your college acceptance most of everything is easy after that. For scholarships all you have to do is meet the requirements of what the scholarship wants and send it in. Just make sure you stay on top of your school work and don't mess around. If you just wanna mess around and you don't really care, don't expect to graduate. Your senior year is one of the most important years of your life. Colleges look at your grades for junior year and senior year.
For all my under classmates I want to give you the best advice I can on going on in your schooling education. Don't mess around and make sure you always stay focused and on task. High school is painful for some and easy for others. Don't get sucked into drama and bullies. You do your own thing and focus on what you need to get done. Your senior year will come sooner than you think and once it's gone it's gone. Don't blink because you will miss more than you think.
