The qualities of a hero by Justina - December 2018 Scholarship Essay

The Nobel peace prize is an award given out to someone who has done something to make the world a better place, this person has tried to push boundaries and has brought awareness to a problem, and is trying to unite the world instead of tearing it apart. some would even say a person like this can be considered a hero. A person of this caliber already has many great qualities, however, if I was on the committee that got to choose this amazing person I would look for two qualities that I think a hero is definitely in need of.
Relatability: the quality of being relatable (=easy to understand and feel connected to). A hero must be relatable. To know how to help someone you must know the circumstances in which they are going through, or at least have an idea or connection to the problem. You fight for something you are passionate about and I truly believe you can't fully be passionate about something unless you have experienced it first hand. Also being relatable helps get your message across to more people and that is what truly makes a difference when trying to solve a problem of any extent.
A mind of your own. something that is kind of unrealistic and hard to find in today's society. Being unique and standing by your own beliefs and never letting anyone change them is a great factor in someone who deserves a Nobel peace prize. Having a strong mind is something people can look up to. Whether your a boy or girl. Being a Nobel peace prize winner means lots of conferences and speeches, people commenting on what you do how you do it and why. A strong mind, a strong heart and a loud opinion are all the world needs.
Overall if I was on the Nobel peace prize committee and I got to choose who won, I would examine past winners and then examine my applicants and determine who stands out from past winners and new applicants. who stands out on there own not because the world told them they do. its all on their own caliber. I want someone who takes the definition of peace and embodies it. That is a Nobel peace prize winner.
