Me!? A Teacher? by Justin - October 2016 Scholarship Essay

If I were to trade roles with one of my teachers, I would have to trade with my Welding and Metal Fabrication teacher. Each year of my high school career I have been able to take this class with the same man. He has instilled in me a passion to share it! I have even taught one of my sisters how to stick weld and how to run the cutting torch!

I have learned the "ins and outs" of welding and fabricating objects out of metal. I have been able to design and build several award winning projects. I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of a new project, and I LOVE to help others figure out their designs, measurements and "kinks."

My favorite part of the day is spent learning, designing, building, cutting, grinding, and painting in the Metal Trades Shop at school. I love rising to the challenge of the mathematics of a project, and figuring out how all the pieces should fit. I believe if the roles were reversed, I would rise to the occasion! I could tackle this adventure! I have enough love for the subject of metal trades, and passion about it to share it and pass it on to other students.
