New Years Resolution by Justice - January 2016 Scholarship Essay

One of the New Years resolutions that I have is that I want to become more helpful in my life. In the past years I have been helpful, but not as much as I could have been, and in this year I want to become a better person overall, and being helpful would make me a better person. I want to help younger or even older students, whether they have questions on homework, trouble with bullies, or if they just need someone to talk to. I love to help people, and I believe that this year is the year that I become more helpful towards students, teachers or anyone else that just needs a friend.

Everyday my parents work, and are struggling to juggle the stress that comes with having a job and five kids. I babysit them everyday, but instead of just babysitting I could do the laundry, or generally keep the house cleaner, or I could help my brothers by helping them clean their rooms. For me the little stuff like cleaning around the house, helping a teacher correct papers, or making a student feel better when they're feeling down is what makes the biggest impact. That is what I want my New Year's resolution to do this year. To make not only me feel better, but also those around me.
