We are always told that education is important. From the day we set foot into kindergarten to our last graduation, it’s been made clear that getting a proper education and taking advantage of it is essential for any sort of success in the future. And to that point, it’s definitely true that education is now more crucial than ever. Just take a look at the income and wealth differences between high school dropouts, PhD recipients, and everyone else in between, and it’ll instantly become clear that education can truly help provide new opportunities for both learning and success. Education, in this sense, is one of the most powerful tools available. Because of its ability to enable more class mobility and unlock more opportunities for growth, education is unparalleled in importance in our modern world.
But having access to a good education is only half of the equation- without a real passion for said education, it really amounts to nothing. Having that drive to do the most that I can with the schooling that I am given is something that is extremely important to me. Generations’ worth of both hard work and privilege has afforded me the educational opportunities I have today- having access to well-funded public schooling and an entire world of knowledge through the internet. This wealth of information has been invaluable to my life so far, and I have tried to use it as much as possible.
Education also continues outside of the classroom, and having a passion for learning means finding more information on your own. It means going out and seeking the resources you need to know more, to study more than what was assigned, and to go and learn something for the sake of learning rather than for a grade. Embracing this curiosity, this need for more knowledge, the raw desperation to succeed, is what a passion for education truly is.
The opportunities that we are afforded through education and learning are invaluable, and so is having a drive and passion to continue this education as much as humanly possible. So many resources and new possibilities can be opened up through education, and because of this, being mentally invested in your education and future is extremely important.
