A time I had to work closely with someone with a different perspective than my own was while working on a science project at school. I collaborated and worked with a partner who had a very different perspective on time and project management. While I preferred a more flexible strategy and figuring it out as we went along approach, she was more inclined to work in a more structured and methodical way with her ideas.

At first, we didn’t agree on most of the major decisions of the project; but over time, I was able to see and understand her way of thinking. We were both able to work in a way that incorporated our different strategies of project management, ultimately leading us to success. This experience enabled me to learn and grow by causing me to be more open-minded and focus more on my problem-solving skills. This also helped me understand that many individuals’ ideas differ from my own, and I need to be patient and understanding with people who I work with. Working with her also taught me the importance of diverse and different perspectives. In the end we ended up getting an excellent grade on the project and I’m so glad we were able to put our differences aside and work together for the greater good.
