One word to explain why I wish to pursue college is “better”. According to Merriam-Webster dictionary to do better is to “improve in accuracy or performance.” This concept is a simple one but also one that is often forgotten and overlooked. To do “better” for me is to never settle. Something that I try to do every day in life is to make small daily goals which then lead me to doing something better than I did previously. It would be easy to graduate high school, immediately enter the workforce and completely forget about college; however, in doing so I would be settling for an average, cookie-cutter life and selling myself short of amazing opportunities to “better” myself.

The word “better” has always been a word that I try to keep in mind in everything I do from helping at home to my academics and athletics. It has helped me become who I am today by giving me something to strive for each and every day. It doesn't necessarily mean in one day instantly achieving your goals, but what it does is mean is that you are working harder to do something that you didn't achieve or do as well the day before. What I love most about it is that the word means something different to everyone. Since not a single person is alike, everyone is going to have something different everyday to improve on.

The word “better” perfectly describes why I want to attend college because attending college will allow me to provide a better life for myself and to provide a better education for the students that I will get to teach. While attending college I will strive to achieve goals everyday that I know will provide me with a better future, even if at the time the work is time consuming and exhausting. If I go into every day with the mindset to do better than I did the day before I know that everyday I will be accomplishing something that I didn't do the day before, leading me to a successful future.
