From Student to Teacher by Julia - October 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I taught a subject, it would be biology. Biology is all about the human body and learning its functions. I enjoy this type of science and I feel confident in my knowledge of biology. I feel that I could be a great biology teacher. I could do fun projects and I would make sure kids understand what they are learning.
Biology has so many different topics that I could cover as a teacher. For instance, there is the nervous system and the way a nerve functions, the cardiovascular system and how the heart works pumping oxygenated blood/deoxygenated blood, etc. Biology shows students how they as human beings function everyday and it shows the complex processes involved in making sure the body stays healthy. I believe this is important and interesting for students to learn about. It gives them a deeper understanding of the complexity of life.
Biology also involves the use of microscopes. Microscopes give students a view that of organisms that they have never experienced. It changes their perspective of how they view the world. For example, seeing a leaf under the microscope would change the way a student thinks about leaves. Microscopes let you see tiny details that are hard to see with the naked eye. The use of microscopes gives the task of teaching biology more interesting and fun.
Teaching biology would be a enjoyable experience. This is the best subject to teach for me because I did very well in biology and AP biology. Biology would be the subject that fits me best as a teacher.
