Community and Togetherness by Judith - September 2023 Scholarship Essay
School is important, many may not realize it and often recognize it as a place they’d rather not be at 8 in the morning. However, the opportunities we have at school are often taken for granted and never necessarily recognized by many people.
When you are finished with your education and you walk across that stage, everyone begins to start their real life. Your friends may fade away, some may move to different states, and some may be in fatal injuries. Everyone must acknowledge that being able to be near people you care about or friends you grew up with, won’t always last forever. You need to make every moment special because some experiences you may never get back again.
My school doesn’t have many moments we get to share with friends, it’s a small school for sure so getting classes with friends is inevitable. But there aren’t enough moments to truly take in the moment. Sure, we have prom, a homecoming game, a Halloween day for seniors, and a spirit week or two but that’s about it. If I had the authority to change my school, it would certainly be incorporating more moments where we can bond as a community, more moments where you text your friends if they’re going or not, more experiences that you wish you got more pictures or videos. Those moments are the important and unforgettable ones that everyone needs.
