Psyched out by Jourdin - April 2025 Scholarship Essay
When I get to college, I plan on majoring in psychology. Psychology has always been a topic I love discussing with other people. I find the human mind and behaviors to be very interesting and unique. Although I know that for some people, they would rather keep that information unknown to themselves. I've always been a person to venture out to understand the "why" people did something. Whatever makes their brain tick and how they coordinate their decisions within their mind. It's always been an interesting and intriguing topic for me, and I would love to make it a job and give myself the answers as to why a person acts a specific way. I haven't quite figured out what job I want in psychology, but something along the lines of a counseling psychologist. I've thought about majoring in other majors as well, due to the elongated process of choosing a job in the psychology field. There are always job openings; people in the psychology field are always needed, and I find that the stats of people within that field are decreasing. I believe it's because of the length, especially if a PhD or PsyD is needed in the job. That extends your academic career even longer. But, as ambitious as I am, I've always had a love for learning. I always enjoyed being in a classroom, and I can't wait to see what I do with my major.
