How IB Has Changed My Life by Josephine - April 2024 Scholarship Essay

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is one of, if not the most, rigorous academic courses one can take. I have been privileged to be a part of it for all of my high school experience, with IB preparation courses started with MYP (Middle Years Programme) in my 9th and 10th-grade years and IB courses being taken in my 11th and 12th.

I believe that IB has prepared me for university not only through its rigorous courses in academics but its encouragement to be determined about my work and keep with it until it is finished. In university, the academics are more advanced than those of high school, but through the IB programme I have been able to be not only more determined about completing my work but also learn about how to research and write better. IB has provided me a sense of self-motivation and an extensive source of knowledge for my academics. The IB programme has motivated me to continue my pursuit of knowledge and of higher education.

My parents have also helped me in my journey of education. They have motivated me to continue working and have supported me all the way through my courses, providing sources of education outside of school and supporting me emotionally or when I am struggling in my work. I stay focused by knowing that my parents will always be there to help and that this endeavor will make them proud.
