Social Media Delays of Education by Joseph - March 2022 Scholarship Essay
Social Media is nice to have so you can virtually work together with your friends when you don't understand your homework. It has been useful for me, but Social media isn't available to everyone in our school district.
Over this past couple of years, it's been really tough to learn. Approximately 45% of the kids in our district do not have internet due to living in a rural community. Other had lack of funds and didn't have the ability to afford it. Our school receives free lunch in the state of Ohio for all kids since we live in a community where we have a poverty need.
Our school did the best they could during the pandemic to keep education going but we had to do it at a slow pace. The school set up free outdoor WiFi so parents could pull up and download their child's work. They kept the packets rather small because the download times were rather lengthy. Social Media really didn't impact our school as much since most do not have it.
For me though, Social Media helped me find multiple opportunities for Education, college Sports and Summer Sports programs. I've used twitter to speak with coaches and to see what colleges needed pitchers. I've used Facebook to learn about scholarship opportunities and to help me apply. You can find about anything if you look hard enough.
