Class Deserving of Emphasis by Joseph - November 2021 Scholarship Essay
There are various classes to be offered in schools across not only the nation, but the world. Out of all those classes, though, I'm going to say that the Environmental Science class, the class I never got to have, deserves more emphasis than it’s given. This is because the general idea, as stated in the name, is targeting environments and saying how they operate. Not only that, but it also focuses on what we see in said environments and how to protect them. Such reasons have more depth as well.
To start off, the first focus is the subject itself. Environmental science is quite interesting to learn as we can see what our planet has to offer, from green fields of grass to cold plains of white snow. From inhabitants that reach heights double the height of trees to ocean depths of three miles. There's a fascinating variety of organisms and their habitats that makes one appreciate this big ball of water and rock.
The next focus is how in such a class we can see so much more than one would normally see in biology, for example. Biology covers a bit about how wildlife interacts with one another. Though they’re brief and only going into cellular and DNA based education. As for environmental science, the information given is a how-to, giving us the ability to preserve our environments better.
The last focus is how we can actually help our beloved ecosystems better. Environmental science covers our water, soil, and energy. These topics all revolve around a need of fixing, as our water and soil are polluted from trash everywhere and harmful emissions. As for energy, we have not-so-clean energy providers, such as oil and gas. The overall subject of environmental science will help to teach us to fix our lands and provide cleaner, healthier energy production.
The overall subject of environmental science put into high school is quite amazing. Such important information to teach us about what natural formations we see and how to maintain them is overall great to have for a high school. That is why, in conclusion, I believe environmental science is a class that deserves more emphasis.
