What would I do if given $10,000 for my community? I'd use the money to start a after school program specializing in STEAM programs. The after school program would be provided for students of all ages and have multitudes of options to pick from depending on their interest.
The reason the program would be STEAM oriented is because these subjects are high demand as well as not properly represented. There is a bias that you must fit a certain criteria to be someone involved in science or technology. With the $10,000 I can start the small stepping stone required to bring my community together and learn valuable lessons and figure out that learning these skills can change the future. It gives children a chance to explore and learn without the pressure of earning a bad grade or appearing insignificant. A big reason people don’t like STEAM oriented things is because they affiliate it with a bad mark or grade. They can have an opportunity in lifetime and learn about the technology around them, or the stars in the sky. Give a child a chance and they have the potential to change the world. To achieve this all it takes is an idea and someone that cares.
