Imparting Wisdom to Younger Students by Joseph - April 2016 Scholarship Essay

As a fairly accomplished student, I feel that it lends me the credibility to impart advice unto younger students. I have both extracurricular, and academic advice, both components are necessary for college acceptance. I will attempt to, in as concise a manner as possible, give you my tips to success.
In terms of extracurriculars, my largest piece of advice is to make a list of everything that you do. Every month or so, just log onto a word document or a google doc all of the extracurriculars you have accomplished in the past few weeks, and maybe a few words describing what the events that you partook in entailed. This way, when it comes time to apply for college and create a resume, you will already have a rough draft created. Also, make sure you get involved in programs that you feel passionate about, not just that you feel will boost your resume. When describing your accomplishments in the extracurriculars that you enjoy, your genuine passion will be transcendent and the college admissions will enjoy your refreshing outlook.
For academics, it really could not be more simple: work hard and be nice to everyone. Your teachers are the ones who decide whether or not you get leniency on your grades whether that be late grades or allowing you to retake a test, or whether or not to give you full credit for a mediocre answer. Ensure that your teachers do like you and want you to succeed. The other component is fairly simple–work hard. Every day when you come home from school, before you watch tv or just chill out, always get your work done. This is a good habit to get into so you can get your homework done early, and go to bed whenever you please as to avoid sleep deprivation. Also ensure that your social life does not conflict with your academic goals. Additionally, ensure that you always maintain your academic integrity.
Follow these steps above, and you should be able to go to any college you choose.
