Rise up by Jordan - July 2020 Scholarship Essay

I walk in to the calming scent of incense and the visual of bright flags from countries around the world lining the walls. There is a choice to sit at a table with chairs or on a rug with a cushion. There is a choice to individually read a book, participate in hands on learning, a group lesson, or a writing workshop. My ideal classroom would focus on teaching the students how to communicate, through reading, writing, and speaking. My ideal classroom would have specialized lessons for all types of children. My ideal classroom would educate the scholars on all types of cultures, races, and religions and promote equality and respect for all because we are all part of one human family. My ideal classroom would make learning fun and the educators would preach praise for love, peace, and diversity. In this classroom, the people whom our society’s future depend on would be taught to have a worldly perspective, an open mind, and a drive to make a change for the better.
This classroom would help me and all of my peers excel as students. We would receive the academic attention we need. Our needs for our learning types would be met. We would learn true history, not the flawed version of it in most textbooks around the country today. We would learn not to repeat the bad and how to expand on the good. We would have platforms to share what is on our minds and would be encouraged to extend our knowledge in the subjects in which our passions lie. My ideal classroom would prepare the children of today to rise up and become the leaders of the future.
