More Than an "A" by Jordan - July 2019 Scholarship Essay

Hard work. Goal-setting. Dedication. Striving for greatness. Never settling for less. That is having a passion for education. Education is a gift and a choice, never to be taken for granted. Being passionate about learning is something that I have always had in me. I excelled in school from elementary through high school. However, many people see having a passion for education as being recognized as the top in your class or having the highest score on a test. Grades and test scores are only byproducts of having this deep love to learn. Those that are on the top are there because yes, they do have some higher skill level than the average, but predominantly because they enjoy and love what they do. There is never someone that exceeds in their talents without having a passion for what they are doing.
Passion for education is seen through an inner competition. Students with this passion enjoy challenging themselves, pushing themselves to levels they never imagined achievable. That is why you see those with a passion to learn succeeding the most. In addition, getting to the top is not the end goal of the students that enjoy learning. The ones with the passion want more and will not stop until they have reached their goal.
