An Evening With the President by Jordan - October 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I was able to spend one dinner evening with a U.S. President, I'd have to go with Barrack Obama. A common choice to be sure, but given our current state in America, with riots, mass shootings and the like, it'd be good to just sit back and speak with someone who was as proactive and steadfast as he was in the pressing situations. He never came off as one who would gloat un necessarily about being "better" than other nations or encourage groups and activities that would further seperate the country. He had his fair share of less-than-graceful moments to be sure, but he never let them deter him or have him make bad decisions on their behalf. Obama kept to his duties when it mattered most despite what some may try to claim.

Over the course of the meal I'd like to ask him about a lot of his internal thoughts regarding his time as the president and if at any point he felt inadequate. When in a position like that much is demanded and expected of you at any given time, and it's important to the people to constantly do your best and assure those who are skeptical that current events and issues are being addressed and looked into. There's a sense that those confirmations are made even when it's not entirely true to ease common folk but I'd like to ask him about it directly if I could. Additionally, ask what he believes it would take to solve nuclear issues with North Korea and the constant debate on right to arms, since both sides don't seem to have a clear solution.
