For the love of science by Jordan - August 2016 Scholarship Essay
During high school I continue to learn from many teachers and what they have taught me as a student. However, one subject always stuck out and taught me more than what was in the curriculum. The subject I learned the most from would have to have been all my science classes because of the teachers that taught me. Both science teachers I had in my first three years of high school taught me so much about the world around me whether it be the earth’s biome or important life lessons that connect to everyday reality they learned through science.
This influenced me not only as a student but as a human in everyday society retaining important information to help me grow into the complex society we have in our world. I’ve learned many things from science class such as genetics and how all organisms are created as well as the cells that are inside of said organisms. It’s rather intriguing what I’ve learned from the classroom and teachers.
Now I may not become a scientist or go into any career with science in it, or maybe I will my mind is still circling with possibilities. However, I will never stop forgetting how much I’ve learned from the science classes I have taken in my high school years. I continue to reflect on what I’ve learned from the past because it helps lead me to the path I’m meant to take in college. Not just college, my career and life in general. So this is my thank you to my teachers and to science for keeping my “wanting to learn” trigger in my brain going. I’m forever grateful and ready to learn more.
