How Not to Handle: My Fifth Grade Teacher by Jordan - July 2016 Scholarship Essay
One day in the fifth grade, a student was aggravating my teacher to a point of no return. I remember it was so bad that she cursed to when telling him to leave the class. As odd as it sounds, that teacher taught me how not to deal with others when you get tired of them.
Some lessons are better learned by sight than by doing, and this was one of those lessons. Ever since that moment, I learned how to bite my tongue even though it might not be the best idea. The expectation is that teachers can hold their tongue even for the worse of situations. Even if it is absolutely necessary to say something, they say it with respect as to not insult the student at hand. Sometimes, that is not the case and when my fifth-grade teacher cursed at the student it was a reverse logic. Now, mind you this teacher had her reputation. I remember this teacher throwing our backpacks and threatening to hit us. The principal justified it to us as her being a tough teacher. It was from the worse teacher in elementary school that I learned how not to deal with people. Anything she did, I had to do the opposite later on in life.
