Give It Your All by Jonah - April 2016 Scholarship Essay
If I could give any advice to younger students, it would be to do as many things as you possibly can while still in school. This period of your life flashes right before your eyes, so enjoy it while you can. Try new things, join clubs, and play sports. Even if you have a specific friend group right now, go try and hang out with other people. School is so much more fun when you're socially active. You will regret never trying out for the football team or chess club for the rest of your life. Even if you join a team that competes and you lose, you'll still have fun and make friendships that will last forever.
In the words of Kenny Chesney, "Don't blink," because one minute you're having freshmen orientation, the next you're walking down the aisle next to someone you probably will never see again. Being active in these clubs and teams will give you great skills that you can easily apply to life. Many of these could open doors that you never even knew existed, so give it a try. Even if you don't end up being a member for the entire year or season, at least give it a chance because you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
