Spreading Love for Hospitality and Tourism Managment by Jolie - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I had to teach a class, it would be for hospitality and tourism management. I am truly passionate about this field. I love connecting with people and giving the best service so that they can have the most relaxing and wonderful vacation. Teaching someone with the same passion as mine would be a perfect way to gain my students’ attention, allowing me to teach passionately because I could connect with them not just in the classroom but in the real world.

I never thought that I would even study hospitality and tourism management. I walked into my high school thinking that I would be a cook. One day I went to one of my high school’s catering events and found myself enjoying communicating and connecting with the customers that I was serving. After that, I was completely in love with hospitality and knew that I wanted to be a part of this great career. After looking more in depth at it, I decided to study hotel and lodging management. I decided that I would always want a leadership role in a business. However, I really wanted to own my business so that I could learn all the aspects of managing a hotel, which is my dream.

It is a gift to teach and leave knowledge of how to manage a hotel, nightclub, or even a restaurant. Just thinking about sharing what I love with students who feel the same way is exciting. I always believe that if you love it, then you should do it. I truly believe that if I had students, I would remind them of this because it reassures and motivates me to keep pushing toward my goals that will better my future. That is why if I had to be a teacher I would love to teach hotel and lodging management.
