I Am Not a Morning Person and I Am Not a Night Owl by John - January 2019 Scholarship Essay

If someone was to ask me, “are you a morning person or a night owl?”, I would tell them that I am not either of the two. I will do my best to explain my answer, but in the end, there is a possibility that I could come up with a real answer.
I am not a morning person. The earliest time that I woke up in the morning was 3:00. This was not my choice, but I had to wake up that early or I would have missed a flight back to college. The latest that I got out of bed was 1:00 or 2:00 in the afternoon. This was because of an all-night youth group event that I had at my church, but I’ll still count that as sleeping in. I hate using alarms. My body knows when to wake up; however, there is a major difference between waking up and getting out of bed. When I am given the opportunity to have some extra sleep, I take advantage of it. Who wouldn’t?
I am not a night owl. As soon as the sun goes down, I cannot function properly. I lose all motivation. I get grumpy in the evening. Many college students stay up really late doing homework, studying, or something random; but I use the night for what it is meant for – sleep.
So, am I a morning person or a night owl? I am none of those. I refuse to drink coffee because it smells and tastes horrible. I am able to do my best at school and other activities during the day when the sun is out. I complete my work in the time that is needed for it to get done. This helps me to avoid waking up early or staying up late. Use your time wisely!
