U.S History in Demand by John - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

If I were a college professor, I would teach U.S. History because I have a tremendous interest in the subject. My high school U.S. History teacher was very effective at delivering content, and this is likely an important factor to my decision. Understanding the events that resulted in the world and surroundings we live in today is something I consider to be paramount in learning. In high school, this was the only subject that I found capable of truly holding my attention and giving me a desire to learn more and more. Knowing which nations who are current friends that used to be foes, comprehending the reasons why our nation experienced conflict, both national and internationally, and the evolution of our nation's culture, has always piqued my interest.

Furthermore, there is a vast array of motion pictures, documentaries, and other mediums about U.S. History that are effective in chronicling our great nation's history. Unlike math for example, history can be reflected accurately through film in extremely interesting ways. While textbooks and recorded history are vital to a historical education, maintaining the attention of students thru film would be an effective strategy in addition. As a result of my passion for history and its contents, I would choose history United States history as my area of expertise.
