Engineering Pathway by Jimmy - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

In the fall of 2025, I plan to start my education to become an electrical engineer at Ottawa University, a Christian college in my home state of Arizona. My goal is to work in the field with a crew of linemen. While working on the lines does not require a degree, I will be able to utilize my degree to be a more supportive leader of a linemen crew. I really enjoy working with my hands and prefer the physicality associated with manual labor.
In addition to my love of physical labor I plan to utilize my engineering degree from a faith-based university to continue my service to my community, which is why I am attending a faith-based college. My personal and spiritual goals include taking care of my local and global community. When I am able, I plan to provide for the under privileged in organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and The Peace Corp. I already volunteer with a local group that provides services to Rocky Point Mexico. I also volunteer in the ultra-running community and special needs baseball camps. I hope to be able to continue my community service and add to my service resume while in college.
