My time as a youth by Jesus - June 2017 Scholarship Essay

As a 6-year-old, education was not a priority for me. I was just a person who wanted to pass classes with good grades, but it was only the grade that matter to me, not my education. The reason being is that I wanted to allow my parents to react positively rather than having a long discussion of why my grades are low. I had times where I would have bad grades that I would explain to my parents that I didn't give any time towards my education. Each day after school, I would do my homework for thirty minutes. For the rest of the time, I would play video games because I enjoyed being alone playing as a character, where he would escape from evil antagonists. The reason why I played these types of video games was I relished in the fact that the protagonist would overcome challenges in their way. I thought to myself that it could be stunning if one could overcomes their challenges and could succeed in life. This success to me revealed that when overcoming challenges, the outcome would be mesmerizing and would leave an emotional impact that if I were to overcome challenges in my life, then I would leave an emotional impact to my future to come.

As that moment stood out to me, I felt a transition sparked from an uncaring person to a person who holds the future in my hand. I considered the fact that if I select what my interests are ahead of time, then my career will be much easier in the long run. Around my Junior year in high school, I had some interests that I really considered when it came to apply for college such as business and interests that weren’t really important for me such as a video game developer. At the start of my Junior year, I joined a club called The Growler Newspaper. It revealed to me that I have a passion of writing about topics in and outside of school. What I really enjoyed in this club is that topics weren’t handed to me, but I decided on what topics I would write about to inform, explain and entertain students and teachers in my school. All in all, I decided that my life will take to a different route from a career that doesn't hold anything for me in the future to realizing that planning on my career early will pay off in the long run in high school.
