In my opinion, education is a way to expand yourself to the world and learn to understand how and why things exist the way they are. Education is a way for one to express, challenge and shape us. Growing up as teenager in the environment of a substance-abusing parent with little hope of a bright future, school was one of the few places that I felt safe in. It was education that taught me that if I worked hard at providing myself the chance to succeed, I could change my surroundings and enlighten myself. I could use this education and give myself purpose.

This is where I learned that the purpose of education is to give everyone a chance to succeed and pull past whatever obstacles may be in our path. Education has no preference to color, religion or sex; it is simply there to give somebody a way to blossom into the character they choose. The purpose of education is to inform ourselves of what we can be and to inform us of the things we don't.

For example, if education weren't a key priority to students, how would we pass on important information to others? How would society be able to establish such an advanced knowledge of technology or even the simple procedure of how to count and discuss topics? Education is an important thing because without it, students wouldn't be able to accommodate simple tasks or have a fair chance at their own future.
