What College Professor I Would Be by Jessie - August 2017 Scholarship Essay

Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a strong passion for dancing. I danced competitively for several organizations as well as for my school since I was 8 years old, winning many titles. At the University of Southern Mississippi, where I am a student and dance for the Dixie Darlings, they offer several dance classes to experienced and non-experienced students. So, if I were to be a college professor it would have to be for a dance class. I would love the opportunity to share and teach my passion for dancing with all the students at the university. As the professor, I would teach them several dances to perform, having the students know by the end of the semester a basic background of dance. Then, at the end of the semester the students will come up with their own dance to show to the class for their final grade.
Being a dancer at the university has helped me get involved in so many ways. So, by the students taking my dance class, I would hope for it to help them get involved in the school, by showing off the dances I teach, as well as their own, at events for the school, or for other students. My goal for the end of the semester would be for the students to build a passion for dancing and then share their passion for dancing with others just like I shared my passion with them!
