Students for the Future by Jessica - April 2023 Scholarship Essay
A really important factor that we often forget about those who dedicate their time to volunteer work and designating funds to those who may be less fortunate, is the impact that you have made on them, and what your relationships alone have the power to contribute to society. If we are not kind to one another, the idea of development and innovation is redundant. In order to create a positive impact on the world, you need to be that positive influence. Of course, the financial and monetary aspects learned in school can create a positive impact on the world- in fact they do every day, but it is the individuals that can create the change.
If I had unlimited resources, I would put money towards students' higher education, in order to shape a better future for our society and planet. Too often, the issue of students' access to education is overlooked. Families filing for financial aid frequently have an unrealistic EFC, and I would like to alleviate that cost so students can focus on the important parts of college or university rather than stressing about finances. Giving these students a foundation to create change and collaborate with one another would be the start of something much greater than myself. I would hire coordinators to work closely with each student to help shape plans for the future, and fund each student created project as necessary. This would grant students the opportunity to grow their negotiation skills, budgeting, intrapersonal relationships, and more. The only requirement to be supplied funding is proof of education alongside estimated cost, and a personal statement on what they will do, or would like to do, with their education.
The cost of university at this time is unrealistic, but I do realize that it is an investment for your future; and I would use my time and money to help students do just that.
