Become a Better You by Jessica - November 2014 Scholarship Essay
The person who will enter the doors of your high school will be unrecognizable to the person who will stroll out. The person shuffling in the doors will be immature, nervous, and excited. When you start high school, you are only beginning to scratch the surface of responsibilities. You can expect to meet new people, make important decisions, and learn to juggle a plethora of assignments at once. At times, your work load will seem unbearable. Believe in yourself. You are capable!
My most vital piece of advice to you is to strive for excellence from day one. When your friends are slacking, be the overachiever. Make your efforts perpetual. Many of your peers will regret their lack of determination. Do not let this peer be you.
Start high school with a goal in mind. Think of who you want to be when you walk out of your high school doors for the last time. Make an impression on your school. Remind yourself of what you want to be remembered for, and act diligently. Your legacy is your choice, and your story will start on your first day. Your life is written in pen, so choose your words and actions wisely because you will not be supplied with whiteout.
