Why do you think the way you do? by Jessica - August 2017 Scholarship Essay
Imagine if you could tell what a person was thinking or why they act the way they do. If I was a college professor I would teach a psychology class. I chose this because I want to be a registered nurse and it's so cool how much you can learn about a person from a psych class. The way they think, when you can tell someone is lying, you also learn about cognition and the wellness of a person. This means there memory or judgment of something.
I took an AP Psych class my junior year of High School, I remembered I used to struggle with that class because of its complicity we would have a quiz every Thursday and we would get our quizzes back on Mondays. I always got a 60% it was a tough class but I really learned from a lot because our teacher would go over the ones we missed and I really learned from it. Mr. Hart was good with explaining his criteria through movies, group projects and his lectures because he used my peers to explain how people are and why they act the way they do. Not only did Mr. Hart do that but we would review for tests by playing jeopardy. It was always so intense because whatever group won got an extra 5% on tests. I ended up passing that class very close to a B. I worked so hard that year but fell short.
In April of my senior year I went on a visit to my future school, Central Christian College of Kansas, I actually got to sit in on a class and it just so happened to be a psychology class. I was so intrigued by the lecture the professor was giving that I didn't want to leave. It is so cool how fun it is to learn about the brain because everything relates to you.
If I were to be a college professor I would teach this course because you can make it as fun as you want and students will still learn. Me, personally, knows how tough a class like this actually is and would understand on where different parts of the studies of this class might be hard to comprehend.
