College experience I am thankful for by Jessica - November 2016 Scholarship Essay

Please accept my application for the scholarship. I’m applying for the scholarship because ultimately my passion has always been work within the school system. Right now I’m a part time student at Northern Virginia Community College and going full time at Liberty University Spring 2017 with less than year left to get my Bachelor’s in Social Science. My plan after that is to get my Masters in Teaching at Liberty University teaching Social Science. Starting in January, I will be taking a full course load becoming a full time student and hopefully starting my career working with Loudoun County Schools as a substitute to gain experience for when I become a teacher.
I went to Radford University from 2008-2010 and studied Marketing. While in college I joined a sorority and became the Social Coordinator. I graduated in 2014 at Northern Virginia Community with my Associate’s in General Studies. I was hired as the Volunteer Varsity Cheerleading Coach at Freedom High School in 2012. I took some time off from school and had my little boy. Unfortunately I have recently divorce my husband and have been struggling to get by as a single mom but making it work. The reason I'm applying for this scholarship is to help pay for some of my classes at NVCC since Financial aid cannot be used at two schools at once. I have to take at least 2-3 more classes at NVCC through Spring & Summer 2017 in order to graduate December 2017. I truly hope you accept my application for this scholarship.

I'm thankful for my college experience because it has taught me some of my most valuable lessons in my life. After everything I have been through since I graduated high school inside and outside of college has now made me realized that its time to buckle down and finish school. I'm so close but I do need help to get by. Once completed with my school I'm going to be extremely thankful for the ability it will give to me start my career as a teacher. I will be thankful for all the knowledge it has give me and looking forward to the rest of my college experience and what more it will teach me.
