When I get to college, I plan to major in Information Technology. This decision wasn’t random or just based on what I thought might make good money someday—it comes from a real passion I’ve had for electronics, computers, and how things work behind the scenes. I’ve always been the type of person who loves technology. Whether it’s fixing devices, setting up networks, or simply understanding how systems run, I’m in my element when I’m surrounded by tech.

My interest in Information Technology really started to grow during high school. I found myself drawn to learning how systems work, how data is managed, and how technology connects people and information. Instead of just using technology, I became curious about what happens behind the scenes—how networks communicate, how problems are diagnosed, and how everything comes together to make devices and systems function smoothly. That curiosity grew into a passion, and I realized I wanted to be part of the team that keeps technology running and secure.

Information Technology is such a broad and exciting field. It touches everything—from security and networking to software and support. What I like most is that IT is always changing, always evolving. There’s always something new to learn. That keeps it interesting for someone like me, who has attention deficit and autism. I’ve learned to turn those into strengths. My attention might bounce between topics, but that makes me great at multitasking and jumping between systems or tasks. And with autism, I tend to focus deeply on things I’m passionate about—which is exactly what I plan to do in college.

College will give me the foundation I need to go further. I want to get hands-on experience, build certifications, and eventually work in cybersecurity or network administration. But more than anything, I want to be part of the future. The world is becoming more digital every day, and IT professionals are the ones making sure everything runs smoothly. I want to be one of them—not just someone who uses technology, but someone who understands it, builds it, protects it, and helps others with it.

Another big reason I chose this major is because I want a stable and rewarding career. Information Technology opens a lot of doors, and it’s a field that will always be in demand. But more than the job security, I want to feel proud of what I do. I want to wake up and know that I’m making a difference, even if it’s behind the scenes. Helping a business stay secure, solving a major tech issue, or just helping someone recover their lost files—those things matter.

In the end, choosing to major in IT is about following my strengths and interests. It’s about turning what I already love into something bigger—a career, a purpose, and a way to help others. I’m ready to take the next step, and I’m excited for everything I’ll learn along the way.
