There are many things I would like to see change in education in the next 10 years. I would like to see college books become free or easier to access. I would like to see more flexible college lessons. I would like to see “required" college classes become free. All of these changes would improve college education.

I would like to see college books become free or more easily accessible. When going to college, in order to take classes, you must purchase both the class and the books for the class. The books are expensive, and you cannot use old books for the class because they rearrange and update the contents every year. You also must search for the books for each class and hope the college has them. This makes it much harder to go to college. If the books came with the lesson for free or just came with the purchase of the lesson as a bundle, it would be many times easier to plan for, budget for, and go to college. Less time spent looking for books means more time taking classes.

I would like to see college lessons become less strict and more flexible to people's different schedules. One big reason so many people drop out of college is because they do not have the time to be there. Changes in life happen all the time, you may be able to go to college in the mornings and work in the evenings, but all of the sudden you are fired, or a family member dies, or something else happens and now you cannot be at college in the mornings or even pay for it at all. Online courses you can take at any time of day, but what if your internet goes out? Or your power? What if you need to visit a sick family member and the internet is terrible there? If college classes became more flexible, perhaps by increasing project deadlines, it would be much easier to go to college.

I would like to see required college classes to be paid for by the college that requires them, rather than having to pay for and take the required lessons before being able to take other classes. Some colleges have “required” classes that you must take before you can take any other class. The required class costs the same amount as other classes, and sometimes has books as well. Classes did not used to be required, but now a lot of colleges make you take “college readiness classes.” The required classes should be free because you already must pay for the classes you are taking to improve your career choices, this means the college readiness classes are an unnecessary, expensive hindrance to your education.

I hope to see all of these changes in education in the next 10 years. College books should be easier to obtain. College lessons should be more flexible to people's availability. If you must take a class before being able to take any other classes, it should be free. These changes in education will make college a much better place.
