Following My Calling: My College Major Journey by Jeremiah - April 2025 Scholarship Essay

I plan on majoring in Biology this fall at Oklahoma State University. This is because I want to go into the medical field, pursue my long-term career goal, and become a doctor. Oklahoma State University is where I will continue my next four years. The fantastic campus has excellent staff and students who can shape and guide me to medical school. Even though it will not be easy, I am determined to do this because when I was five, I grew up with a heart problem. I had to get heart surgery because I had a hole in the bottom chamber of one side of my heart, and the blood was not pumping correctly. With this, I could do most things other kids could not do, such as playing football, living, and enjoying life. I have always wanted to help people but never knew what I wanted to do. Until a couple of years ago, God had put on my mind how I should help people, and I have always been so fascinated with how medicine worked and more about how anesthesia impacted people. More importantly, there are different anesthesia options for people allergic to certain ones. However, I know this journey will be complex and time-consuming, but I am dedicated to putting all my hard work and talent into it.
