The meaning by Jennifer - November 2018 Scholarship Essay
I still remember being in elementary school and wishing I were a senior already. It's 2018 already and I'm one-third into my senior year and it's flying by to fast. Really wishing for time to slow down a little bit. Other than that I'm pretty excited for college and my future after it. My favorite quote of all time and the one I used for my senior quote is "The life in front of you is far more important than the life behind you" by Joel Osteen. My parents would always remind me and repeat this quote to me and it has stuck with me.
I've learned a lot over the years and as I have been maturing. We all have struggled in life none of ours are exactly the same. We all took different paths in life to get where we are now and some of those paths were harder than others. At the age of five, my parent got a divorce and it wants really hard to be for a few years. When I turned ten it's when it hit me and when it started getting hard for me.
What does this quote say about me?
When I look at it doesn't say anything just about me but to everyone. The way I always looked at it was that through all my struggles I probably wouldn't be where I am today. Even though it was a hard childhood growing up I'm grateful for it. It made me into the person I am and I look at life from different perspectives. The past is something we can remember but something we can't go back and change. Just be grateful for where you are at the moment and look at the future and make it the way you want it to be.
How my future turns out will depend on me and the choices I make will contribute to it. I may commit errors but I won't look back at them to try and fix them because some may be impossible to change. I will take my errors of choices of decisions and turn them into lessons for any future issues or problems I may run into. All the time I could spend worrying about my past problems would mean less time making my future great.
What it says about me is I have moved forward and not looked at the past. I always say this quote to myself if I need a reminder of what I'm doing. It has helped me with any decision and will continue to help me.
