A skill that I strengthened was how I managed my money. Money management in life is important and should be something that everyone does. I started doing it after I graduated high school two years ago.

College is expensive and as I am about to go to nursing school this year, money is something that is important. As well as being in college, PCSing to a foreign country, having no stable income, and not being able to speak the language, saving money where I can is a necessity. What I did to strengthen my skills in money management was that I made a spread sheet and then I allocated a certain amount of money into each group that I made. These groups include groceries, home supplies, savings, and emergency funds, to name a few. This is a solid and clear way that I found was better than putting the numbers into Word or just writing it down in my notes.

Learning to manage my money took some time as well as trial and error. Being able to not stress about money and how I was to pay for things really helped me focus and study harder. Not only that, but I now do not overspend in stores that could otherwise be spent on my future education.
