Every day the world is introduced new and large advancements of technology that hold promise and a better future. One advancement of technology that will be immense in the year of 2038 is having access to digital course materials and assignments.
There are some clear advantages when it comes to people of all ages having access to receiving their education online. For example, for the single mothers who are occupied with taking care of single and multiple children while simultaneously trying to maintain a steady income to support their children, for the kids whose parents do not have the time or money to enroll their children in school and actually get them there, to the kids who are forced to go into the work force at such a young age and grow up without an education, and to simply those people who do not feel comfortable or feel too pressured to enroll in college and experience the entire journey, having access to courses and assignments online is essential.
A large factor of why people are unable to receive an education is because of not only money but also time. A large solution to this is having access to libraries and other areas that have computer access available to all. An individual does not even have to be enrolled in a college but be able to log onto a computer and open up YouTube and be able to spend hours watching educational videos. There are videos ranging from teaching someone how to cook with less than three ingredients available to them, as well as how to tie your shoes. There are even audiobooks posted online for people to listen to in the event that the person has never been taught to read. Learning through listening is provided through videos and soundtracks available to all.
In 2038, some of the largest advancements in technology will have surfaced and broken through to the world, ranging from the latest in medical technology, as well as the newest interactive virtual world for people to exist in but none of these things would have been reached without an individual learning how to do these things. With online access to an education individuals can teach themselves things they struggled to learn when sitting in a classroom. Homeless individuals can have access to an education that could allow them to gain something they never thought they would. That mother of five children can enroll in online college while still being able to make it home in time from dinner after working all day.
Technology can be scary in the sense of it taking over people’s time and attention but it can also be the breakthrough technology we need to make the world more inclusive and easier to live in. Millions of people around the world are left without an education simply because of their environment or the one they were raised in but that should not be the deciding factor on whether or not someone should receive an education or not. People should have options and equal access no matter the price and digital course materials and assignments being available online could be the factor that changes it all.
