"Never judge a book by it's cover" by Jendayi - August 2013 Scholarship Essay

I had recently taken a drug studies addiction class in early May of 2013 at the Community College of Phiadelphia. When I first signed up for the class i was very interested in the things I would learn about drug addiction and the challenges that people faced as drug users.I had made some shocking revelations as i attended this class for 7 weeks. My professor seemed to have a personal touch to his profound teaching of this subject. He was very passionate in the way he spoke about topics that dealt with drug use and its drug users. Profesor Gooden was a very repectable man who was looked up to by many of his students and co workers. The day that changed my life and the life of the other students was when Profesor gooden confesed some very personal news about his life. The reasoing of his passion when teaching was that he himself had been a recovering addict of 10 years and was clean for 5 years. I would have never in my life thought that this professional, well spoken man was once a victim of drug abuse. He showed no physical or mental signs of it. I along with my classmates were left in shock because we would have never known the life that Professor Gooden once lived.he lessson that i was taught from this class is to never judge anyone in life good or bad. No one ever knows what a person has been through physically, mentally, or emotionally because of what you see on the outside. Professor Gooden made me think and have a different perspective on life because of the story that he was willing to share with my class. This class has changed my outlook on life forever. Now I will always know To "Never judge a book by its cover".
