Never Give Up by Jeffrey - July 2016 Scholarship Essay

People can learn many things from teachers. We usually depend on teachers we trust for wisdom and guidance. One particular lesson that I learned from one of my teachers was from my high school Algebra II teacher.

I was in my senior year of high school. Math was never my strongest subject. I took Algebra II in my senior year because it was required for most colleges that I was applying for. Almost all of my senior year, I was struggling with Algebra II. I think this was in part because I had this class for a zero period, meaning I took this class before school regularly began. Almost every morning, I had this class at almost 6:30 a.m. It was before my first period class at 7:30 a.m. I also think that I was on the football team and we had practice every weekday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Also because football practice ran late, I was up late doing homework until midnight. The next morning, I had to wake up at 5:30 a.m. to get to my Algebra II class. My first semester of my senior year in high school was almost a struggle for me in Algebra II class.

My teacher was so dedicated, that she would hold after school tutoring workshops in her classroom. The lesson that I learned from this class is to never give up no matter what kind of struggles one may have in school. I also learned from her to always be dedicated to academics no matter the struggles.
